I'm Rodney — software developer, artist, musician, and chronic problem solver.

By day I write code and build things with technology. I'm drawn to AI and what it makes possible — not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a tool that extends it. The posterize tool on this site is one example: built to solve a real problem I had as a painter. You can find more of my technical work at rodneymaiato.dev.

I grew up in Montreal, Quebec — surrounded by French language and culture, which gave me a different way of seeing things. I spent twelve years on the west coast of Canada before recently moving back to Montreal.

Art and music have been constants since childhood. Guitar lessons in fifth grade turned into a lifelong relationship with music. Painting came later — mostly in portable Moleskine sketchbooks, done in parks, on ferries, in coffee shops, and anywhere else that caught my eye.

What connects all of it — the code, the art, the music — is the same thing: I like figuring things out. Taking something that doesn't exist yet and making it real.
